Pitching & Catching Clinics Showcase KBA Alumni Giving Back

The Kanata Baseball Association recently hosted its Pitching & Catching Clinics, and the response from players and families was overwhelmingly positive. The program filled quickly, with 74 players registered across the Minor, Major, and Junior divisions over two weeks of sessions.

What made these clinics especially meaningful was the group of instructors leading them. Tyler McDonald-Hoffmann, Callum Turcotte, and Marc Lange — all alumni of the KBA program — returned to the field to share their knowledge and experience with the next generation of players.

McDonald-Hoffmann, 18, has played with KBA throughout his entire baseball career and currently plays catcher on the 18U Rep team. In addition to competing, he has been actively involved in supporting player development this year, helping coach KBA’s Winter Skills program and assisting with NCOBA Elite tryouts last fall. He is also a Level 3 OBA umpire.

Turcotte, 21, played with KBA from age 6 through 18 and competed in OBA Rep from the 10U through 18U levels as a pitcher and first baseman. He is an NCCP-trained coach to the 13U level and served as an assistant coach with the KBA 13U Rep team in 2025. Turcotte also helped with NCOBA Elite tryouts last fall and is a Level 3 OBA umpire.

Lange, 25, played with KBA until age 13 before dedicating his time to umpiring within the association. He is a Level 3 OBA umpire who supports many KBA tournaments and also volunteered his time with the association’s Winter Skills training this year.

Together, the three instructors led pitching and catching sessions designed to help players build skills and confidence at key defensive positions. The clinics provided participants with focused instruction, hands-on drills, and the opportunity to learn directly from experienced players and officials who once developed their own skills through the KBA program.

Seeing former players return to support the development of younger athletes is a proud moment for the association. The Pitching & Catching Clinics not only helped players sharpen their skills ahead of the season but also highlighted the strength of the KBA community — Thank you Tyler, Callum, and Marc for giving back and helping inspire the next generation of KBA players!
