The Kanata Baseball Association continues to build momentum for girls baseball in the community, hosting a Free Girls Try Baseball Clinic that welcomed local girls to experience the game in a fun and supportive environment.
The clinic gave participants the opportunity to step onto the field, learn fundamental baseball skills, and connect with others who share an interest in the sport. For many of the girls in attendance, it was their very first time picking up a glove or swinging a bat.
The session was led by KBA’s Andrew Norman and featured special guest Jenna Flannigan, an Ottawa native and former member of the Canada Women’s National Baseball Team. Flannigan spent time working with participants, sharing her experience in the sport and helping inspire the next generation of players.
Participants rotated through drills designed to build confidence while introducing the fundamentals of the game. Events like this are an important part of KBA’s ongoing commitment to growing opportunities for girls in baseball and creating a pathway for them to develop their skills within the sport.
By offering clinics and programming specifically designed to welcome girls into baseball, KBA hopes to continue building interest and participation while fostering a positive and inclusive environment for players of all ages and experience levels.
KBA would like to thank all of the girls who came out to participate in the clinic and helped make the evening such a success. The association looks forward to seeing many of them back on the field when the spring season begins!
KBA continues to support girls baseball through dedicated programming and opportunities to learn, play, and compete. Girls interested in joining the game this spring are encouraged to explore the association’s growing girls baseball program and become part of a supportive and welcoming baseball community.
