Specialized Baseball Skills Clinics

NEW FOR 2023

We're hosting a series of specialized baseball skills clinics from January through April, led by coach Tyler Rathwell. See the clinics and details below and then scroll down to register for as many as you like. These clinics are open to all players who meet the age requirements.

Catchers Clinic

Ages	10-18
Dates	March 18, 25, April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 (seven sessions)
Time	8:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Location	Beckwith Fieldhouse, 1319, 9th Line, Carleton Place
Cost	$100
Description	New catchers are welcome - no experience or catcher's equipment is needed! Players will learn a "New School" approach to receiving, blocking and throwing the baseball, with an emphasis on athleticism.

Pitchers Clinic

Ages	10-18
Dates	March 18, 25, April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 (seven sessions)
Time	8:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Location	Beckwith Fieldhouse, 1319, 9th Line, Carleton Place
Cost	$200
Description	New pitchers are welcome! Players will work on fundamental and advanced skills including pitching from the wind-up or stretch, introducing off-speed pitches and how to care for the pitching arm through a baseball season.

Hitting Clinic (Ages 9-13)

Dates	January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11, 18, 25, March 4, 11 (nine sessions)
Time	8:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Location	Beckwith Fieldhouse, 1319, 9th Line, Carleton Place
Cost	Now only $120 for the remaining sessions!
Description	Players will work with coaches to break down their swing and then improve it piece by piece. Skills developed over the nine weeks include hand positioning, barrel control, weight transfer, swinging on plane, hitting off-speed and covering the upper and lower segments of the strike zone.

Hitting Clinic (Ages 13-18)

Infield Techniques Clinic

Ages	8-13
Dates	January 13, 20, 27, February 10, 17, 24 (six sessions)
Time	6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Location	Bell Sensplex Fieldhouse, 1565 Maple Grove Rd, Kanata
Cost	$140
Description	Players will learn fundamental and advanced skills including fielding, throwing, soft hands, cut-off technique, middle infield, corner infield and quick decision-making.

Lead Instructor

Tyler Rathwell

Tyler is a Kanata Baseball alumni who also played on the Ottawa Nepean Canadians and the Carleton University baseball team. He has several years of experience coaching young baseball players in the Ottawa area and takes pride in helping young men and women develop and improve advanced baseball skills.

Registration

Registering for a clinic is easy!

Visit our KBA Registration system, (opens in a new window).
If you have previously registered for a KBA program, sign in, otherwise create a new account for yourself.
Select Participant from the main panel or Register >> Participant Registration from the side menu.
Select "2023 Winter / Spring / Summer Programs" in the "Choose a Season" dropdown list.
Select your player/participant or create a profile if not already there.
Choose the division according to your player's age - the available clinic options will appear.
Check the box next to the clinics you would your player to participate in.
Click Continue
Complete the requests on each page clicking Continue at the bottom until arriving at the final confirmation page.
Select your payment option and click Submit Registration.
