A Message to the KBA Community - REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN

Feb. 12, 2021

Hello KBA families,

I'm feeling optimistic today as I share some positive news with you in this update.

It is anticipated that the restrictions in Ottawa will be lifted to the 'orange' level next week.  This means our winter indoor training, which has been on hold, can get started.

Currently we anticipate the Winter Skills program will start on Friday Feb 19 and run until April 9.  There are still a few spots open for this training and registration is open on our website.  Sessions are on Friday evenings at the Sensplex fieldhouse.

Rep teams will start their indoor training on Sunday Feb 21 at the Beckwith fieldhouse. Training will be on Sundays through the end of April.  More specific information will be shared with teams soon.

Our 9U Rep team is looking to add a few more players to the roster. Tryouts for these positions will be held indoors at Beckwith in Feb/March.  Registration is open for players born in 2012 or 2013 who would like to try out for this program.

New for this year - we are extending our Rep offering to include a 22U team.  Tryouts will be held in early spring and registration is open for players born in 2000, 2001 or 2002.

Both Little League and the Ontario Baseball Association have encouraged associations to proceed with tournament planning and are optimistic for a more "normal" season in 2021.  KBA has been hard at work getting tournaments lined up.

Registration for our Spring House programs will open on Feb 15th.  Due to the high level of uncertainty caused by the pandemic, we have decided to allow people to register for our house programs without a payment due at the time of registration. Payment will be due at the end of April before sort-outs begin, with the season planned to start in early May.  Registering early will help us better plan our house programs, get enough coaches enlisted & ensure adequate equipment and uniforms are available to meet the demand.

We are still looking for volunteers to be division conveners at Little League Minor (9-10 yr) and Major (11-12 yr) levels. Good organizational and communication skills are the key skills needed for the convener role. If you are interested or need more information please let me know.

The safety and happiness of our members is always our top concern and we will continue to operate with all recommended COVID-19 safety measures implemented.  Specific safety information from rented facilities, Ottawa Public Health and our association will be shared with coaches, players and parents in the coming days. I'm confident we can all do our part to ensure safe and fun baseball for our kids!

Stay safe and healthy...

Sandi Robertson
President, KBA

P.S. MLB spring training starts next week!!  Spring is coming :)
